Frances Heffernan serves women who admire classic tastes, but with chic styling that reflects their personality. The boutique features over 4,500 square feet of display space and top international designers including Rena Lange, Bogner, Lida Baday, Douglas Hannant, Maria Pinto, Piazza Sempione, Charles Chang Lima, Akris Black Label and others.
Frances Heffernan opened its doors in 1932 in Winnetka, Illinois, an upscale village on the shores of Lake Michigan 20 miles from downtown Chicago. It quickly became the quintessential fine women's clothier serving the surrounding North Shore communities. Owner Maggie Barrett is the niece of original owner Frances Heffernan and has operated the business since 1981.
In March 2005, Maggie opened adjacent boutique Frannie in Winnetka.
