Born in 1898, Salvatore Ferragamo was destined to become one of the most influential footwear designers of the 20th century. Hollywood contracted him to design Dorothy's red slippers for the 1939 version of The Wizard of Oz. Salvatore died in 1962, but his two sons, James and Salvatore, still run the company today.
