Written in Stalinist Russia, Dmitri Shostakovich's brilliant Fourth Symphony wasn't performed until twenty-five years after its completion; it's now regarded as among its composer's greatest works. Conductor Bernard Haitink, known for his skills interpreting Shostakovich leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Also on the bill: Haydn's Symphony No. 101, "The Clock".
