Based on the classic Billy Wilder film Some Like it Hot, the musical Sugar follows unemployed musicians Jerry and Joe who, on the run from gangsters, go undercover with an all female band. Complications arise when Joe (now known as Josephine) falls in love with the band's singer Sugar Cane. With a book by Peter Stone, and music by Julie Styne, the original production of Sugar ran more than 500 performances on Broadway in 1972-73.
